Free ist eine der ersten Akkordfolgen und Melodien, die ich als 17-jähriger Schüler komponiert hatte. Zusammen mit vielen anderen Skizzen im Hinterkopf begleitete mich der Song fast 20 Jahre lang mehr oder weniger unauffällig. Nach diversen Trips ins Tessin und Nächten mit intensivem Gefühl von Menschlichkeit, Natur und Freiheit drängte sich das Lied wieder vermehrt in mein Bewusstsein. Schliesslich entstand im Morgengrauen mit Blick auf die Venus die finale Textfassung, und es ist mir eine Freude, dieses Stück nach zwei jahrzehntelanger Entstehungsgeschichte mit euch zu teilen.
